Zombies do not think for themselves, but simply follow and eat those with brains. Modern epistemology is the same: lacking will or rationality. I’m meeting young men around my age group who are, for example, questioning the WW2 consensus. This alone isn’t wrong, however, when I ask them for sources or arguments, their thinking stops there, their thinking is zombie-a-fied. Leftists are the same. Classical liberalism is the only ideology on the left that even cares to have rational disagreement in my experience, and even there it’s limited: Zombies again.

The hypnotic effect of technology, and the internet in particular, seem to be closely related to the zombie-mind, as they produce hordes of hedonistic humans who can’t attend to anything serious longer than the TikTok duration of time, and even that is pushing our luck. But let me be clear, I’m not blaming the technology itself, It’s simply providing the means for the latent zombie within to have his feed. (literal ‘feed’) But the zombie itself, a walking corpse, is caused rather by a lack of meaning, a lack of direct communion or awareness that divinity is here with us right now and interacting with us, ‘walking with us’ as it were. This lack of perception of God’s eminent presence also reduces humanity from being images of this divinity, to whatever speculative meta-narrative that has achieved trendy status, further reinforcing the zombie experience.

So, ‘walking dead’ that we are, attempts at analytical epistemology fly over everyone’s head. Yet, it’s precisely analytical thinking which could benefit us in the information war of the internet. Training ourselves with patience to only speak from a position of some standard of evidence or rationality would prevent us from falling for a lot of rhetorical and emotional flares of the news and daily life. Hedonism is fundamentally incapable of this however, since it’s addicted to the social effects of saying certain things rather than speaking from rational foundations or supportive evidence. Eat brains don’t have one!
